We wanted to highlight the tape noisey vibe in this. We focused on getting each sound to sit right in the mix, separation and volume control first, and then the emotion. It’s quite an emotional song, so we wanted it to feel quite present in the higher mids. There are quite a few section changes, so it was important to mix each section with careful attention.
